30 Years of Continuous Operation as an International Truck Dealer
Gala Planned for Missouri Commercial Truck Dealership.
Kansas City, MO—August 9, 2011—Diamond International of Kansas City, a local full-service International® commercial truck dealership, will celebrate its 30th year in business in August 2011. The dealership started as a branch of the former International Harvester Company.
In 1999, Diamond Companies purchased the location in Kansas City and Springfield, Missouri and Topeka, Kansas from the three founders who began the operation in 1981. Since 1999, Diamond Companies expanded to locations in Joplin and St. Joseph, Missouri. The dealership offers commercial truck leasing, rental and mobile and dedicated maintenance services through Diamond Idealease of Kansas City.
Between 2002 and 2004, Diamond International of Kansas City completed several major renovations and expanded the state-of-the-art body shop. In 2009 the dealership added a paint facility to offer showroom quality finishes.
“Our Kansas City location has been serving the commercial truck retail and lease and rental markets for 30 years,” said Dick Sweebe, President and CEO, Diamond Companies. “Diamond International delivers a higher standard of value to the market. We enjoy longstanding customer relationships with major fleets, the City of Kansas City, the State of Kansas and many others. Customers like these have allowed us to grow more than 300% since 1999.”
The dealership will also celebrate Bill Abney, Robert Bauch, Jim Hinton, Gary Hunsucker, Lisa Key and Randy O’Shea, six employees who have worked at the dealership since August of 1981. “In today’s business environment of buy outs, bankruptcies, and employees transitioning careers on a regular basis, it is quite an accomplishment to honor six people who have been with one company for 30 years,” Sweebe said.
To help celebrate the 30th anniversary, Diamond Companies is hosting an evening gala for customers and employees at an area restaurant, featuring entertainment by Gary Hardy and the Memphis2.
